With the world completely coming to a stop and transitioning to working from home during the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic, the desire for new types of media to keep operations afloat during the stay-at-home orders are at an all time high. In regards to today’s assignment, I would like to create a new form of media in the scope of business and education. To explain, the textbook industry is one of the most lucrative sectors within the education system with the American education system purchasing millions of dollars worth of books per year. As all offices in America cannot operate at full capacity, many writers are currently at home. However, with the current strength of the internet, these teams can still access their information databases from their homes. As a result, I would create a textbook writing software in which multi-headed textbook creation teams can efficiently piece together textbooks for next year's upcoming school season. What would make my software unique from all other textbook writing programs would be that my software would combine the current programs of Google Docs and Zotero to formulate an extremely organized writing experience. To explain, Google Docs is a writing software /website in which people can create writing documents and share their documents with other software subscribers. Zotero is a reference management software where writers can log and save their references they have used in the past for future projects instead of fishing through the web for their previously used sources. Combining the two would enable large teams of writers and editors to work on drafting textbooks and accessing each other’s sources to create a seamless work environment. I believe in a current time in which communication is so highly used as people are not coming in contact with one another, my software media would eliminate long wait times that occur when asking simple questions over email, and help make creating a textbook from home significantly easier.

    I really liked your idea. I think your software, a combination of Google Docs and Zotero, can also be very helpful for students writing papers. I have had group term papers to write this semester and something like this would be helpful when trying to manage all our different research.
